Not so happening

Watched "The Happening" yesterday. My first movie since "The Water Horse" about two months back. It was a distinct Mr Shyamalan's movie, but also not quite so. It was typical as the show keeps one wondering what was actually happening. And it was not so typical as one would still be wondering at the end of the film. It did not have that satisfying twisted ending like that of "The Sixth Sense". But it does have a moral to the story which is to be kind to our environment!

Obviously not that smart after all

This is a long overdue complaint of a certain cable tv provider. It recently advertised to change to its new smart card. One would only assume that this was to improve its services especially during foul weather. Why else would it want to introduce the new card? Anyway, to my utter dismay and horror, the new and not-too-smart smart card did nothing to improve this cable tv's service during bad weather. And even during good weather, the service was not at all free from disruptions. To add insult to injury, mom and i encountered at two separate incidences, while watching the tv, the decoder suddenly went to stand-by mode! Yes, this was after we changed to the new card (never before had this misfortune with the old card)!!! So whose brilliant idea is it for the new smart card?!

New mom

I wasn't so much of a baby person, more of a dog person (it's usually a dog person vs a cat person, but why am i associating it with a baby?!!). Anyway, that was before Annabel. Now, on the streets, i will look twice at a baby (besides dogs of course), unlike previously.

There are so much more responsibilities now that i'm a mom (still have to get used to the new status ;p). Life revolves around the little one now. Lifestyle changes are in tow. Long peaceful slumber is replaced by short interrupted sleep. Everything comes to a halt when she cries. Me time only when she sleeps. No, i'm not complaining, it's all part of motherhood.

Our ROM one year anniversary coincides with Annabel's baptism. And this year we are entitled to celebrate Mother's and Father's Day! Yippee!! ;p

Hello sleepless nights...

Could not believe that we're parents now. Little Annabel was born on the 31st March, five days earlier from the expected due date. Sorry dear but she couldn't wait for her daddy!

I really thank God for a relatively easy labour and delivery. My water bag broke at about 5.30am. I took time to shower and eat and some last minute packing (of course while feeling nervous and all), before going to the hospital at about 8+am. Upon reaching, we went straight to the labour room. I was a bundle of nerves, being the first time and not knowing what to expect. Luckily mom was with me ;p

I was given enema and later prostaglandin pessaries to induce labour (at about 9.30am), and was told to lie down for about two hours. Soon enough i started to feel the contractions, though they were very mild. When the two hours was almost over, i was given the green light to walk around. So i got down from the bed and waited at the tv room. Then the contractions started to get a wee bit uncomfortable (think menstrual cramps). When i was back on the bed, the contractions began to get more intense and shorter, gradually but surely. And when i couldn't take it any longer i was then given entonox (basically gas and air) - but i was still feeling the pain... probably it wasn't that intense.. at least there was something to take my mind off besides the pain. Oh and i was also given pethidine. Two different painkillers! Of course i also asked for an epidural but unfortunately my request was a bit too late (smart me said no when my gynae asked if i wanted it - but at that time there were no contractions yet!).

My gynae was called in when i was almost fully dilated and the baby's hair could be seen. I was happy that it was fast and that the last stage was almost over (sorry dear, the baby and i definitely couldn't wait till you arrive or else several more hours of suffering!). The contractions came and i pushed... and again.. and again... i was beginning to feel frustrated until i saw the vacumn - what a relief! After a couple more pushes the baby was out (TOD 2.08pm) with the help of the vacumn, and the little darling was wailing her lungs out! Me being an emotional wreck was expecting to shed a few tears of joy when i first lay eyes on Annabel but hmmm surprisingly i didn't. Perhaps i was just too tired and felt relief when it was all over (almost... minus the stitching and all!).

Now quite there yet...

Five more weeks till the grand arrival of the tiny little one. Simply can't wait.. to see her, to hold her, and also cos i'm getting bigger and more uncomfortable by the day (although i know once she's out, she'll really tire me out!). Have been doing lots of shopping for baby stuff since last week. Couldn't resist buying a few cute dresses and girly clothes - they are so adorable, and i just couldn't wait to see our little bundle of joy in all those cutesy clothes.

Almost nine months

The first trimester
I didn't feel or look pregnant but definitely felt lousy especially with the morning sickness and the rest. Sometimes I even wondered whether I really was pregnant. Also very crucial period, and my gynae even warned us not to get too attached with it (like starting to think of names!!). Here is also when we nicknamed the foetus as 'the dot' ;p
The second trimester
This is when I actually began to enjoy being pregnant. My tummy was starting to show as well. Good bye morning sickness, hello good appetite. I also started to feel the little one move, somersault, kick etc.
The third trimester
I'm just into my 33rd week of pregnancy (7 weeks more!), and getting heavier by the day. This is when I'm starting to get a wee bit tired of carrying that extra bulge around, and really looking forward to the day.. of course minus the pain! haha.. fat chance! I'm also beginning to miss all my pre-pregnancy clothes and heels and jeans and mini tees, and wonder if I'l be able to fit into my favourite pair of Levis later... Also having headache on the things to buy and prepare for the much-awaited arrival.
