Today marks Malaysia's 49th Independence Day, 49 long years since the lowering of the Union Jack. And look at us now...

Cholesterol overdose

My dinner today. Clockwise beginning from the plate of green leafy veggie - spinach, black chicken soup, pork liver with ginger and dried chili and cooking wine (the highlight - yumm!) and sliced red chilies (definitely a must have).

Just looking at this pic makes my mouth water. *drool*

It's been so long since mom last cooked this dish, possibly the last was when we were still in school?!! Yes, i know this dish just screams cholesterol, but i can't help it. Once in a while haha! Nutritionist konon! Dad being the more health conscious one, was just picking at the liver. Mom and i.. we were enjoying the meal! And rightfully so as liver is high in iron. Mom said this dish is good for those after delivery. I guess i have to watch my food for the rest of this week to make up for my high cholesterol intake today!

Pretty heels

Bought my 2nd and 3rd pointed toes heels today (at least i think that's what they are called lar). Was so hesitant to get my first pair, but it ain't that bad after all. Got all three from Vincci.

In fact i get most of my heels, pumps, sandals, girly type of footwear from Vincci. Prices are reasonable with up-to-date styles. In fact i've seen a couple of Vincci's shoes with similar or almost similar style as certain designer labels, during the same season somemore. Latest or what!

I only noticed when i took out to admire my shoes at home that both heels have a cute ribbon. I'm a sucker to all things cute and pretty! The denim ones would go well with jeans and perhaps certain workwear too. And the classy black ones would be right for work and formal functions.

In case you're wondering, no, Vincci didn't bribe me with free shoes *LOL* i wish!!

The silent treatment

Both of them were eating quitely. He was concentrating hard on his food, while she, well, she was focusing on the newspaper and her food. Then her mobile came to life, and she answered the call. That was the only time i heard her speak. Then it was his turn with the papers and soon after he left the table for a smoke outside, leaving her eating quietly.

This was not the first time i've seen couples behaving this way. Together physically but not enjoying each other's company. I for one definitely wouldn't want to end up like these people.

I call it love

Heard Lionel Ritchie's latest single 'I call it love' over on mix the other day, and i simply love it. Looks like he still has it after all these years. And guess who'll be starring in the video? Daughter a-lil-too-thin Nicole as the lead (but i think she looks better now) and Adam Rodriguez of Roswell and CSI Miami. Can't wait.

Neo-retro?

What does one understand with neo-retro fashion? Hmm.. retro yes we know, but retro with a 'neo'? Err.. wild guess.. retro with a touch of matrix? haha! Or does it simply mean retro?

Anyway a quick webcheck on wikipedia tells that neo-retro is NOT retro, the opposite really - an artistic style that tries to produce something new based on classical designs and processes, unlike retro being something that is brought back from the past. Hhmmm.. but i still don't quite get it!

It seems like the meaning of neo-retro is up for interpretation. Is it bold fashion that screams loud colours? Or some futuristic style ('spaceman' wedding gown? LOL). What about some pretty laces? That is making a comeback and definitely have some classical charms. Yea i think i'll just settle with that! And now let me go dig out and see if i have any lace stuff... orelse... *smiley*

Sniffle, sniffle

Feeling like i'm gonna get sick. Having slight sniffles, the beginning of a flu... wondering if it'll be full blown. But not really doing anything (don't want to?!) to stifle the sniffles. haha.. for reasons only known to me *wink*

My new toy :)

Just got meself a new toy - canon pixma mp150!! Yay! One which could print documents and photos, scan and immediately print (like a photocopy machine - though it'll be expensive to make copies this way). Got it at a fair price rm285 (with free gifts somemore!), and it was rm292 on friday. Just completed the installation and have yet to try out the many features. Guess i can start by scanning my korea and darling's uk pics.

Those good old days

Just met up with two old pals from schooling days Kav and Soon. Mostly we were reminiscing on the good old days, our friends then and now, fun times at tuition,... isn't that what we twenty-somethings do when we meet up with our childhood-buddies?

We ended our little get-together by promising that we'll make a trip somewhere (it started with Pulau Tioman and ended up in Bali!) early Dec (actually they said better have fun somewhere before i get married! haha!!). Yes, i know Dec's a peak period and all, but Kav's got exams till mid Sept, and there's Deepavali in Oct.. we'll see cos the flight to Bali then is about rm350+. Not cheap. Gotta save money for wedding mar!! *wink*

We also realise that the best buddies are still our school friends, we were innocent and befriended everybody without grudge or hidden agenda. Next comes uni mates, all those years in campus far away from home creates that special bond. And now working, friends somehow are different. Perhaps there are one or two out of ten colleagues that we can actually call our friend. I guess when colleagues get together we tend to talk more about work and nothing else! But when u start chatting about other things (esp when on the phone) then u'll know that it's time to upgrade that colleague to friend status.
