Watch the Goblet of Fire *it really is the most exciting of all Harry Potters. managed to complete the first 8 chapters of the book (out of 37 chapters) and all that was captured in the first 5-10 mins of the movie. i guess i would be a tad disappointed if i'd finished the book before the movie - as there would be lots missing. sad ending. sobs*

Toast N Toast, till it's all crispy and nice
My darling and i discovered a new makan shop this evening. Initially had wanted to have tea at Habeeb or Habib however u spell it, but came across this interesting looking cafe (like those modern kopitiam concept), with an equally interesting name - Toast N Toast. So with a name like that (esp in small ol' Melaka) we just had to drop by.The menu displayed various types of toasts, and also rice and stuff. At first i planned to only have a drink, but then my eyes settled on 'cinnamon toast'. And since i have this thing for Auntie Anne's cinnamon sugar coated pretzel, i just couldn't say no. And definitely without regrets!

Penang Assam Laksa.. *drool*
And we tried the assam laksa. Not too bad.
But i still miss the one at the Gasing pasar malam - cheap and yummy. That was in fact my first assam laksa. Before that i didn't really fancy this laksa dish from penang, probably due to the bunga kantan(?). But after that first taste, well, it wasn't that bad and i kinda liked it. And it had been assam laksa for dinner almost every Weds - the day of the pasar malam naturally!
It's not easy to find assam laksa in Melaka though. Nice ones lagi lar susah! Anyone knows of any good ones here?

The amazing power of the humble white coat
Allow me to share my medical condition. I'm rather allergic to the sight of medical students / fresh medical graduate doctors / medical officers prancing about in their white coats (inc dental officers and pharmacists). Prancing here refers to the act of garbing oneself in the white coat unnecessarily, meaning outside the hospital vicinity.I first realised of this condition during uni. We shared the same campus with the medical undergrads (at least for the first 2 yrs). If it's within the uni grounds like strolling to the campus cafeteria, no matter how ridiculous it might be wearing the white coat there, it was still tolerable. However, this bunch of 'clever' silly ppl will cross the busy main road for lunch, and u guessed it, in their not-so-sparkling white coat (due to the exposure to elements outside the hosp).
Some will even go to the toilet in the white coat. Eeuuu..
Then there was the time when i was working in pj, and i had to pass UH to and back from work. The ppl in question will walk, garbed in white, to and back from the hosp. And i can only assume they walked from home, imagine taking the public transport in that white coat. But then again, will that make ppl offer their seat for u on the bus? Hmmm...
Nowadays i see this group of ppl in and around GH melaka when fetching my darling for lunch. These breed are a bit different (prob due to the fact that they are not from the local medical school). They will walk with air and attitude, and trying to look stylish, of course not forgetting that white coat. Think tv doctors - ER, Scrubs, etc.
Amazingly the specialists would be the ones looking so simple, and often without that i'm-a-doctor-so-respect-me white coat. Soon i'll encounter with more tv doctors as i start to cover GH seremban, another breed from yet another private medical uni.
Points to ponder:
* doesn't the mean m'sian heat get to them while walking everywhere in that white attire?
* aren't they supposed to keep the coat clean?
* are they suffering from a terrible lack of confidence that they have to tell the whole wide world that they're a doctor?
* should we applaud them for being ever ready at all times, ie when an emergency happens outside the hospital, the public can immediately identify them and seek help?

on HP & the Goblet of Fire.. initiating the read
Will start reading HP & the Goblet of Fire soon.Actually started reading earlier but realised at chapter 2 that it was the wrong book (HP & the Order of the Phoenix pulak)!! Silly me.
Stopped my current read Stiff to start on the Goblet of Fire. Didn't really mind cos different chapters of the former tells of yet another use of the body, yup body as in cadaver-body.
Wanna read first before catching HP on the big screen. *grin*
More movies to look forward to
Saw a few great movie trailers while waiting for emily rose. The first was Memoirs of a Geisha starring Zhang Zi-Yi, Michelle Yeoh. Tried looking for the book at mph mcca earlier but couldn't find it. How typical.
Then there's the brief clip that focused only on Mona Lisa. I guessed correct - The Da Vinci Code. My darling and i have this unspoken competition of guessing the movie title while watching the trailer.. hehe..
Yippee! Another 2 movies to add-on to my must-watch list.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Finally. Watched Emily Rose the other day at gsc (not tgv) @1U (awesome new cinema). Now what i was doing in kl is yet another story ;pAn absolutely great movie. I was literally hanging on to my seat throughout the show!
And I was reminded of another equally super chilling show, Stigmata at the end of the screening. A quick web-check gave me this meaning to stigmata - bodily marks, sores, or sensations of pain corresponding in location to the crucifixion wounds of Jesus, usually occurring during states of religious ecstasy or hysteria (tat alone is enough to give me goosebumps!).
Anyway back to Emily Rose.
Was it scary? Yup real scary with some terperanjat scenes. The fact that this is based on a true story somehow increased the level of eerieness. But towards the end i found tat the scary-level was still tolerable and ok (the big Q - wat is not tolerable?.. hmmm).
Despite tat i still couldn't totally delete certain images and 'sound effect' from the movie out of my mind, even after the show (esp at certain time of the day). Deep impact. Really. Hope i'll get over it soon.
Again this is based on true accounts. So we get scared out of our wits by evil spirits,... well in that case the devil is true then. And of course that makes God real too ^_^ (it should actually be the other way around though). We are generally afraid of ghosts / spirits etc, but it is God that we should fear.
Life will never be the same again. Yup, esp when it's 3am, and u suddenly got a whiff of tat burning smell. Hmm... be afraid, be very afraid. God bless.

Phoebe Buffay's Smelly Cat
Smelly cat, smelly cat
What are they feeding you?
Smelly cat, smelly cat
It's not your fault
They won't take you to the vet
You're obviously not their favourite pet
You may not be a bed of roses
And you're no friend to those with noses
*LOL*

Only at Beppu Menkan
http://sexysiren.blogspot.com/2005/11/courageous-lip-smacking-literally.html
fiery eight chillies VS the slightly tamer four chillies
I too love spicy food but am just as contented at 4 chillies.
Even at 4 chillies, i had to stop in-between sips of the orange-red soup and mouthfuls of twirled noodles, to really enjoy my meal without any 'after-effects'.
I consider myself adventurous when it comes to food, but don't think i would ever venture to more than 4 chillies as i do not want to 'suffer' throughout my meal ;p (must enjoy my food!!.. food glorious food...)
Will order the paper steamboat my next trip there.
the yummy-liciously sweet soup... with that succulent prawn

Poor me
My head feels heavyAnd nose a bit runny
I wheeze when i pull-in a deep breath
And suddenly develop a gruff sexy voice
I feel slightly feverish
And tired all the time
The taste of phlegm lingers at the back of my throat when i cough
And my tongue it's all tasteless and dull now
Yup, it's just me being sick :(
